mixed-use community

LA Plaza Village

Project: LA Plaza Village, Los Angeles, CA

Client: Los Angeles County

For LA Plaza Village, the County of Los Angeles was interested in pursuing a large mixed-use development to provide housing, neighborhood retail and services on a challenging site. YCG worked with a team of consultants to determine a feasible development plan and mix of uses and resolve obstacles to the development under a fast-track schedule. The project opened successfully in late 2019 with 355 apartments (market rate and affordable), a museum with a teaching kitchen celebrating Mexican cuisine, the new home of the Cesar Chavez Foundation, and community-serving retail. The project features extensive public art and open space amenities. Ground rent from the development supports the adjacent La Plaza de Cultura y Artes museum and cultural center.
